Community Health Center Purchases New PT Equipment

Canton, NY - Community Health Center of the North Country (formally CP Family Health Care Center), operated by Cerebral Palsy Association of the North Country recently purchased a state-of-the-art traction table and laser therapy equipment.  The equipment was funded by a grant the agency received through the ARRA Capital Improvement Program (CIP); and is part of a project that will allow for various equipment updates in the clinic.  The laser can be used for increasing local blood circulation, relief of minor muscle and joint aches, pain and stiffness, relaxation of muscles, and relief of muscle spasms.  It is indicated for injuries such as tennis elbow, tendonitis, inflammation, pain management, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, headaches, low back pain, sciatica and many others. The traction table is indicated for bulging, protruding and herniated discs, degenerative disc disease, radicular pain, spinal root impingement, and degenerative joint disease.  Because of it’s hi/low feature, the table is fully accessible.“The new equipment will allow our physical therapy staff to better serve our patients, especially bariatric patients and those with disabilities,” says Doris Chenier, Executive Director. Community Health Center of the North Country is currently taking new patients in the Physical Therapy Department, which is open to the public.  Medicaid and Medicare as well as some forms of private insurance are accepted.  Staff offers evaluations for Durable Medical Equipment (DME) to include manual wheelchairs, power wheelchairs and scooters, bathing equipment, walking devices, and toileting equipment.  In addition, evaluations for adaptive equipment such as static standers, adaptive tricycles, and adaptive feeding chairs for individuals of all ages with physical disabilities are offered.  If you currently have an above mentioned injury, or would like more information please call 315-386-8191 to schedule an appointment or visit www.cpnorthcountry.org.  A prescription from your referring physician will be necessary at the time of your appointment. Caption- Community Health Center of the North Country Physical Therapy Staff from left to right: Brooke Bradley, receptionist; Brittany DeLisle, PT, DPT; Tamar Butler, PT, and Lisa Guccione, PTA.
